Modhumoti Bank Limited signs deal with Access to Information (a2i), PMO

Modhumoti Bank Limited signed an MoU with Access to Information (a2i), PMO to facilitate Union Digital Center (UDC)-based Agent Banking on Wednesday, 17th June, 2015 at Hotel Purbani International Ltd. Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology was present on the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. Atiur Rahman, Honorable Governor, Bangladesh Bank and Mr. Kabir Bin Anwar, Director-General (Administration), PMO & Project Director, a2i Programme were present as Special Guests. Mr. Humayun Kabir, Honorable Chairman, The Board of Directors of Modhumoti Bank Limited presided over the meeting. Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, MP, Honorable Chairman, Executive Committee, Mr. Mostafa Kamal, Honorable Chairman, Risk Management Committee of the Board of Directors of Modhumoti Bank Limited with other Directors of the Bank, Managing Director & CEO of the Bank Md. Mizanur Rahman along with high officials of the Bank and other dignitaries were present. Under this agreement Modhumoti Bank shall be able to provide banking services like Account Opening, Cash Deposit, Cash Withdrawal, Money Transfer, Utility Bill Payment, Payment of Inward Foreign Remittance, Balance Inquiry, Loan Initiation etc. through their agents.
Government of Bangladesh has given high priority for implementing and spreading countrywide financial inclusion through Agent Banking. Modhumoti Bank Limited wants to be a pioneer in the field of Agent Banking and thereby ensure access of geographically dispersed and unbanked population to Formal Financial System. Providing banking services via Union Digital Centers (UDC) administered by Access to Information (a2i) Programme of PMO through Agent Banking is a unique decision of Modhumoti Bank Limited.
